子どもの頃に感じたこと。
昼間はバッタやクワガタなどの虫を捕まえては虫かごに入れて眺めているのに、夜には蚊帳に入って眠る自分が、まるで虫に捕まえられた虫のよう。昼と夜とで180度変わってしまったように思える自分の居場所。それでも、蚊帳に守られた心地よさを感じていました。

When I was a child, I used to catch insects such as grasshoppers and stag beetles during the day and put them in a cage to watch them. But at night, as I lay in my mosquito net to sleep, I would feel as if I myself were an insect caught by another, and it is this strange feeling from my childhood which has encouraged me to make "The House of Insects." From the captor during the day to the captured at night, my position was completely reversed; nevertheless, I felt comfort under the protection of the mosquito net.
